I would like to attribute a portion of the success I’m experiencing growing autoflowers to the fine folks like @ColoradoDreaming420 .... it’s info like this shared that makes us all better .... I think it’s @Vapo69 - another who gives freely his knowledge .... that says “imore I know the better I grow” .....

Best of Grows to All.

thank you! I hope it helped someone get a better understanding of Led's
Yes it certainly did.
However, I am a noob and had already pulled the trigger on 300W Viparspectra “Burple” light right before I read your guide. Now I’m second guessing it as a starting light and thinking I need a white one.
Maybe the one I ordered will work to get me started for a while and I can upgrade down the road? Growing in a 2’x2’x6’. Thanks!

Blurples still grow plants but may not be as efficient as newer technology lighting. I thought I had done my homework before I bought mine but a guide like this would have been beneficial as I’m sure it will be for many. Since then, I pulled the pin and upgraded to cobshop cobs and sold my blurples.

The data is interesting and yes, there is no perfect spectrum. Yet white LEDs are showing superior growth compared to 5x more expensive " horticultural" LEDs. Makes you wonder why they are still mostly Red/Blue combinations with a little IR and UV tossed in. When people are pulling yeilds of high quality buds exceeding 2.0 gpw ( yeah yeah, not the best metric but it makes a point ) according to anecdotal evidence, something is obviously on point. Supplemental Deep red and UV may or may not be of value, I've not seen definitive evidence that it does. if you have information to support its worth, that would be a worthy post also. Personally, i'd put my DIY QB based light up against any horticultrual LED based light including Fluence for results. I'm sure though, that based on the science you present, better LEDs for horticulture will be available one day. In the meantime, you can't complain about the results of White LEDs!

For a "perfect spectrum" this also means it cant be only one white ( full ) spectrum from seed to harvest.[/QUOTE]

Your blurple will surprise you with how well it gets you through your first couple grows. The longer you hold off and get information, the better your next lighting decision will be.

Thanks.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. I’ll get by a little cheaper and gain some experience along the way to better educate myself for my next light in a year or two. :)

Thought I’d share this video .... Long video and it starts kinda slow but very educational .... Highly recommend for anyone considering a new purchase or anyone wanting to get smarter ..... he tests some 27 lights, is yours on the list, mine is and it sits at number two ..... BUT not all manufacturers are represented.
