We've had some fair and healthy debates about how to go about bringing on new and upcoming autoflower breeders; there's a lot of great genetics out there that aren't necessarily produced by big teams or these larger commercial companies and we're trying to find better and more effective ways of helping those breeders get some spotlight with their breeding and genetics.

Now that said, most people here can probably attest to that being a bit of a slippery slope. There's are DOZENS of breeders on social media groups and other communities that, for lack of better words, not worth the paper their name is written on. And some? Are doing great things and the world should know.

So my question to YOU, the community, is what do YOU think we should do to help bring on new autoflower breeders? What kind of credentials should be sought after with someone that no one is really sure who they are? What do YOU look for?

Should we continue to give these small-time guys free forum space in this indie section? We had always done in that in the past and we recently had some concerns raised by it (from other breeders, actually.)

We want this to be fun, but fair and safe too. Snowball some ideas with us!

    Whatever the wife leaves me
I would have thought select testers grow out a few seeds with support from the breeder. If they maintain solid support and produce a solid product then they should be free to post here. It's a 4 month investment by them to get on the forum as a legitimate and "endorsed breeder". My 50p worth.

    Hi my friend
At first let me say, I like the work of the small indie Breeders. The other thing is I don't know them and can't trust them if they are serious.
One thing is to test their products by the Test Team but It don't say anything about the breeder himself it only show the work.

Why not setup a Webshop only for the small indie Breeders.

Then it's easier to trust if it's a afn shop.

    The best way would be.

Strains have to be tested by the Team.

Only tested strains find their way to the shop.

The price has to be fair for all breeder shop and customer.

ps. I can't tag much people because I am online by mobile phone I hope anyone can do that to push this discussion.

    Have a nice day

I believe what most of you said . Strains tested by the senior growers . When I first joined AFN I had no idea how to grow autos , I relied on what the senior grows did , Lights , nutrients , seed company's , you see where I am going . Now with small indie breeders , I am sure you guys know what is what . This is where the trust in AFN comes in . Be a shame to lose it .

I am about as FNG of a grower as one can be. I think that the testing should also be done by a few selected new growers (not me). The test of seeds is, can an inexperienced grower get buds from their plants without major issues!

Certainly, Master Growers should be first to grow new strains, but there are a great many FNG's here as well. If the breeder isn't willing to supply an amount of free seeds for testing, send them packing.

I would like to see a mix of master growers who put a lot of time into the plants. Then a grower like myself who makes sure the environment is within limits(not perfect but just fine), feeds but doesn’t take notes and push the limits makes sure ph is close haven’t really tried perfecting that lol??? Gets’em to the finish usually looking good when the plants aren’t finicky. When they get finicky I just back off and try to baby them to something of a harvest. I’m no plant dr. And then the new grower should show what the seeds can do in the hands of a rook. I am going to be breading in the future and was wondering where I should start that journal, if anyone can advise me thanks in advance.
