i agree. This was my first time defoliating at all. Something I’ve never done with autos… I was a little too keen to try here. This will be my “practice” photo run…:crying:

Anyway, I think I’ll let ‘em veg for another 3 weeks or so. They seem to be all good now.
Defoliation is something that should be done to mitigate mold, especially in the center where a lot of foliage grows creates micro climates that can harbor shit. Otherwise I find it utterly pointless cause usually if a plant is too bushy some branches could be removed that will open it up.

Definitely think three weeks will do them well while you observe and decide if you still want to manifold or SCROG

Getting bushy...

Very happy to see the girls finally growing nicely again. Currently feeding a diluted version of the GH Late Veg (LIGHT) feeds. The original light chart is 1.5ec, but I was feeding at 1.3ec and have now dropped it to 1.2 as I'm noticing some iffy tips and they're pretty dark. They really don't seem to like higher nutrient concentrations; I guess plants grown using high-frequency fertigation need less nutrient ppm's in general, which is something CFC mentions but I ignored back in Weeks 3-4 :gassy:

It's interesting to note that these photoperiods grown using high-frequency fertigation seem to like similar nutrient levels to any autoflower I've grown in the past, where I'd usually max-out at 500-600ppm.

Cheers,

tronN00dles

P.S. The 'balls' on the Bubba Kush are starting to look a little more female-shaped by the day :d5:

WEEK 6: Happy Growth

Hey folks,

Back again with a summary of week 6 of veg. growth. I'm happy to report the plants seem to have fully recovered from the rough-handedness in week 4. I haven't done any more topping or defoliation, and boy, they are short, fat, bushy ladies :crying: .

To recap, the Green Crack is a poorly executed manifold with 4 colas (main stems at 45 degrees rather than flat), and the Bubba Kush is a half-manifold with 2 colas, also with 45 degree angles lol.

I can see at least one reason why a flat manifold is ideal - to keep the colas far apart. Mine are going to require some regular LST to keep them separated. All good though :smoking:

Also got the nutes dialed in. They seem to thrive at 600ppm each, and I'm getting around 680ppm from my run-off. I've been pH'ing at around 5.7, watering once a day to 10-20% run-off.

PPFD at 400, still at 18/6. I'm thinking 10-14 more days in veg. I guess I'll make the switch when some leaves start to reach a tent wall? Any recommendations here?

It's crazy to think I was trying to give these plants 900ppm of nutes with a PPFD at 500, especially so soon after topping + transplanting. They did not like that all. But fortunately, these really seem to enjoy this less intense environment.

Anyways, here's some pics:

Up until now, I've been using pipe cleaners to tie branches down, but I've been following @Suki813 's awesome grows and as such, I've decided to retire the pipe cleaners for something a little better.... :vibe:

Here they are today after a bit of training:

^ Bubba Kush. Notice the indent on the main stem on the pic on the right. I cracked these arms accidentally by bending too close the main stem back in week 4 and had to hold them together with a tie-wrap. I left this on a little too long, as we can see from the pic on the right... :crying:

That's all for now.

Thanks pal! Yeah it was a bit of a learning process to get 'em dialed in, but I think I found their sweet spot in terms of light/nutes. We'll call this my 'practice' photo run :crying:

These are the arms on the Green Crack that were cracked and dangling off that main stem. They were held in place with a tie wrap for a few weeks. They healed up nicely:d5:

Edit: Just noticed on my Week 6 update, all my picture captions are mislabeled lol. So swap those around. The Green Crack has the flatter arms with 4 tops; the Bubba Kush main arms are closer to 45 degrees with the two tops. Apologies. Must have been pretty friggin stoned during that update... :baked:
