It would if you freeze them immediately. It is usually done when super-high humidity environment...do you get a menthol taste at all ?
i ask because not long ago i used to smoke native smokes , they were hard on me so i went with menthol , still native though
at one point a native i was buying smokes from told me to get them to menthol they freeze dried them early to trap in the chlorophyll
i dunno if its true or not , thats why i ask if you notice this

Some prefer that taste over the MJ one, I do not.....
You might get similar "minty" taste if you use Dry Ice. (quick dry)
For this "freeze dry" method, you should normaly hanged for 4 to 6 days (my RH is 40-45) and then in the freezer (that step is critical) you still want to slow dry as you would normally.
The final product, is similar to the jared one but of superior quality (i.e: taste, flavor, aroma and bag appeal).
