Freeze Drying: Perfect cure!

  • Well, we're still working on things and I imagine we'll see some bugs, some breaking, and things that need to get fixed. We'll start on the most critical things first and work our way down. We're still installing add-on's and squaring away some licensing stuff, but feel free to browse the board and we'll update everyone on when things are added, restored, or otherwise changed.

Interesting way of curing and I'm always up for trying something new. The biggest challenge will be getting a frost free freezer!

It should be noted that the terms being used here are often flat-out wrong! Drying and curing are being mixed-up.

Freeze-drying is just that, drying, dehydration of water and other relatively volatile liquids. At freezing temperatures, there is no enzymatic action, microbial growth, much less oxidation and other chemical reactions, etc. But these things - natural enzyme activity, microbial growth and fermentation, oxidation and other natural breakdown of chlorophyll and other components are critical parts of "curing."

Curing involves all kinds of chemical and physical changes in the plant material, most of which are due to residual enzyme and microbial fermentation, while freeze-drying just involves dehydration (which has its own physical effects) with none of the other biological and chemical activity.

Hi guys, this is my freezer tech.
I did it one time already and worked like a charm !! The taste and perfume left on the buds were beautiful smooth and intense at the same time.
Here is a how to images, i use the straw to take the air out of the zip bag. Im doing a test of some buds after beeing drying for 3 and 4 days in 2 sep bags.
You leave them in the freez before give it a try for at last 10/15 days.
I still storage some withe train from Mephisto this way, for more then 5 month and the looks, smell and taste its amaising !!!

Worth it to give it a try .......
