The story is that the boards are wired in such a way that people are misconnecting them and burning out the red diodes, but it does also seem like that they are really trying to target the commercial market with his product it may just not have the time or the interest in building those smaller boards for the amateur growernat this time. Alos
Look at the 288 bases HLG 300 and HLG 550 boards which are clearly targeted at someone other than me. LOL
Idk what sq. Ft youre looking to cover, but my fixture cost me right about $340 for everything. Both boards, heatsink, driver, miscellaneous wire and cord. For the performance of the light, imo thats a stellar deal. In my 2x4 space it AVERAGES around 600 to 700 par for the entirety of the space. If you haven't seen it on YouTube, check out LED Gardeners page. He posted some par results in different size tents, also 2 and 3 board configurations.

I have a single 130w QB made by the late Niemi Company which was basically a copy of the HLG 135 Rspec. I was thinking of buying a similar 648 Diablo single and combine them in a 2x4 Gorilla Grow Lite tent

That would work im sure, but I'm guessing the one side would be much more intense. You would have a lopsided amount of light. You would also have 2 different drivers most likely. The 288 boards can not handle as much current. 3000ma compared to 5000ma of the diablo boards. It might just be me, but the two lights being different in so many ways would get under my skin ‍♂

Get a quote on a heatsink for those Diablo @5000ma......! It can be done, but it wouldn't be cheap
And the whole idea of these boards is efficiency and spectrum. I'm building a Diablo based light for a 4x4 tent. I'm going to run it at 480 watts on a pair of 240H-C2100b ( actual I'm willing to bet that's still more than enough light, even if I ran CO2. )I'm estimating 1200PPF

From the par ratings ive seen, 4 diablos will crush a 4x4 grow space. Most people agree anything over 1000ppf is kind of useless unless supplementing with CO2. Im really loving the how low I can keep my temps too. 77° is my peak temps currently even with it being in the high 80s outside here in the mitten state. When you going to start building your light?

I'll finish it today and hang it tomorrow during lights on in the photo tent. Yes without a doubt I'll dim it lol!
