For UK folks on here.
See the link below for a very helpful clever chap who sells everything you need all in one place (earth worm castings, molasses and fungi/bacteria).
Ive just called him up and talked his ears off. Nothing was too much trouble and I enjoyed his take on this home brew subject.

I hope this helps the UK people who struggle to find the right products :)

Im using a 50l black swing top bin for my brewing.
Actually I bought 2 as they were so cheap (£9).

Brew in one, then once its done pull this bin out for cleaning and crack on with a fresh brew in bin 2.
I did 2 brews with no earth worm castings as I did not have any. Still the plants responded well.

Next I did a brew with the worm castings in the bin loose and struggled with filtering. Im lazy and it was slow and boring.
So next couple of brews Ive put the earth worm castings in a stocking and hung it from the top of my bin. Its thrashing around in the bubbles but no filtering issues once the brew is ready.

After speaking with the chap I mentioned above, he recommends (as did Groff-Miester-General) (in da house-saaaaa!!) using the earth worm castings loose.
Much better mix, much better nutrients and bacteria ting going on.

So I ask mr helpful above about an easy way to filter.
I new there would be a simple common sense answer, just I could not think of it.
Bang in a tap 3 or 4 inches above the bottom of the bin. Once the magic is done, turn off the pumps and let it settle.
Then turn on the tap and there is your lovely magic brew with no bits in...
Bloody marvellous!!!

Happy brewing Yoll

Thanks for sharing! I'm trying a product that lykaboss suggested called Root Assist. It's a Tea Bag that you brew for 48 hrs. I've had brown slime that I've been battling for weeks. It's interesting because I didn't have any problems with slime until I removed the top feed component from my hybrid DWC system. I'm not sure if that's what started the slime but I can attest that a cool res and H2O2 will not ward off brown slime.

Hi upto, The Root Assist is awesome so far! I bought two products from Skunk Labs. Their Root Assist and their ResClear which is a sterilizer. I'm using ResClear for my seedlings which is what Skunk Labs recommends. I'm running the Root Assist with my mature plants. I had a terrible brown slime problem that I couldn't fix with res cleaning, H2O2 and enzymes. The Root Assist is working as advertised. I bought and tried the ResClear for a week with the mature plants and it helped but the Root Assist seems to have really stimulated the root growth. I'm switching the seedlings to Root Assist tomorrow during res change on lykaboss' advice. The only thing about the bacteria is that you make it a gallon at a time and dose at 2Tbs. per gal and it only lasts for 10 days refrigerated. So my res' aren't big enough to use much the solution before it expires. I wonder if there ia way to extend it life? Are you sorry you asked?

@jackmc
Check out the sticky in the organics thread. Its the same Tea but far more improved and the doses are in smaller ratios.

I am using hydroguard for the first time. I had a rash of seedlings damping off so figured it couldn't hurt. weather it worked or I just got passed the critters doing the killing I don't know. However I haven't added a drop of hydrogen peroxide this grow. I have less slime and biofilm than I did using the peroxide and the res has a nice earthy smell.I dont dump my res the entire grow so I am alittle nervous but so far i'm very pleased. I do see a little foam now and again when the temps hit 70 or better but that's rare I try keep it closer to 68 but sometimes I sleep in. I keep the res insulated to help.
