inline fan and filter size for 80x150x200cm tent?

  • Well, we're still working on things and I imagine we'll see some bugs, some breaking, and things that need to get fixed. We'll start on the most critical things first and work our way down. We're still installing add-on's and squaring away some licensing stuff, but feel free to browse the board and we'll update everyone on when things are added, restored, or otherwise changed.

Im about to get my first tent sometime soon when i have figured all exact products i need to buy and was wondering about inline fan and carbon filter specs.

I will be using a 600w HPS with cooltube in it and perhaps some additional CFL as an vegging aid(keeping the HPS further away from young plants).

I use metric system and all simple guides and calculators i found were in inches and trying to convert cubic inches exactly gets bit complex and im sure someone here can figure out the specs on the top of his head or at least link me some calculator and help explain this whole thing a bit.

Thanks :)

Ps. i was thinking about this https://ventilation-system.com/series/tt-silent-m (just not sure what size) and am looking for very silent one, ofc preferable free or very little money ;D So if someone has better suggestions or know that this product is not good for some reason, let me know

A 6 inch inline fan would probably be best for that tent, especially if you have hot summer days. Just make sure that the filters cfm is equal to, or preferably higher, than the inline fan. I have used Phresh filters and Vortex fans for a lot of years and they have done me well.
Also, don't forget to buy a couple of 6" clip on fans to blow across the tops of the plants.

I run a slightly smaller tent and use 4 inch centrifugal fans w/ speed controls on intake and exhaust with a 4" filter. Forget exact specs but I have more than enough vent action.

I always try to get a fan that will move 3 or 4 times my tent space per minute once you add filters and ducting you will lose some of that

So my tent is 2x4x6 foot that's 48 cubic feet I have a fan that's 190cfm so around 4 times my tent the carbon filter and ducting cut that down a bit and depends on how long a run off ductingyou have

Do you mean that 3-4 times the tents size per minute is with already basic filter and ducting, or do i need 3-4 times tent per min + calculate how much filter and ducting takes away from this and add it to calculation also?

Im also wondering about the size of tubes/fan/filter. Size obviously starts to matter when you are moving tons of air from a large space. Then i noticed that some inline fans move more air than other same size, some smaller ones even move equal amounts to others with larger hole. I also read somewhere that too small ducting can cause more noise as there is more air pressure coming out. I also started wondering if carbon filters are spec'd to some certain amount of air moving through them per minute and if choosing too small size could cause me to have more noise and maybe even worse smell proof. Low noise and very good smell proof is a must for me

I meant the three to four times the size of the tent before you add and all that stuff that way once you add the filter in the ducting it will still be about one or two times are changing the air a minute in your tent as far as if a fan is a 4 inch 6 inch or 8 inch fan the thing you really need to look at it just to CFM cuz you're right that 4 inch fan could push out just as much air as a 6 or 8 in it just depends on their fan speeds I guess I'm not really a expert on it and you would need a filter that matches the cfm

Im not sure about the noise but the longer the duct or the more bends in the run the less power you'll have so you can loose anywhere from 20 to 40 percent or more
