Not my first grow but by no means an expert...

I have a White widow Auto, from Seedsman. 11 weeks and 5 days. Looks healthy enough and never had any issues apart from when it was a seedling and looked a bit mutant, .....although the leaves have always been unusually dark.

The issue is I can't see any Trichomes, none !! .....and I expected to by this stage.

The LST has produced several fairly even sized and decent looking colas that are slowly starting to fatten up....but none of this amazing frosting I keep reading about.

It is a soil grow, using Fox farms trio nutes, extra bat guano/worm castings as occasional top feed, and molasses (sometimes) PPM on last measurement of run off was about 1400 (it had been higher a few weeks a got before I got a ppm meter.)

temperatures are high here, average about 33 C and humidity about 60%, but that was partly why I chose this strain as it is supposed to be happy in higher temps.

Just cut down (last week) a GSC Auto planted at the same time, in same tent.....with lots of trichomes.

is it just a question of patience ?...I have seen some grow diaries for this strain that go as far as week 16 before harvest.

Not to discredit what was stated above my post... but considering you had other plants in the same environment I would chalk this up to genetics. Sounds like you got a trich less pheno.

I once grew out 10 x G13 x HashPlant cross and NONE of them had any trichs at all... TOTAL disappointment. And we had nearly 35 plants in total and all the others were perfect. I'm sorry you had this experience and not to bash anyone but I would NOT blame this on the grower... at all. IME and Opinion.

sure it is leaning more to the ruderalis side of the balance, not much the widow expressions. but it can come out as enviromental trigger as well, and from too much nutrients i see a very dark green plant (N overwieght to me)

if no trichomes are produced, are the buds totally useless ???

The only way to tell is to smoke it... But unfortunately that will most likely be the case if there's no trichs at all

Thanks to all for the comments. I have made attempts to reduce the humidity by increasing fan speeds and doing some defoliation. Also to reduce Nitrogen from the soil I have added some mulch made from old fan leaves. And, as one person mentioned in another forum, I added some molasses. The suggestion was that adding sugars at this stage can help bring on Trichome production....not sure if this is true, but can't hurt. At very least it will feed the microbes.... PPM from run off today was down to 750, and pH was 6.8. ALSO!!...after further closer inspection I think I can see a few Trichomes starting to appear. And some of the lower leave are starting to fade and yellow.....So all may not be lost.

it helps beneficial bacterias, and maybe mycos, not much to do with resin itself - resin has more function like a defensive system to protect the plant against natural harms, dry wind, radiation of the sun can be toxic sometimes on cell level, it can protect the plant against harmful fungus or bugs as well and last but not least it has optical effect too.
