i hope i can either get some assistance or at least some education. im a noob to gardening. i grew a small batch of males many years ago. and those guys flew up and outward. recently i germinated a handful of seeds and we should be well into the 5th week, and if you were to look at them you would thing that we were a week out of the ground. these things are absolutely pathetic. they look really good other than they arent growing. lol. the leaves are small, ant they dont seem to be getting taller either. its just really really odd. ive never seen a plant grow like this. and all 7 are almost identical. i have 2 slightly stronger contenders. i have no idea whats going on tho. im serious these things are only 4 inches tall (the tall ones) lol. i just dont know if i should just put them out of their and my misery and start over or give them a fighting chance. its just getting frustrating. what have i done wrong? i will admit, and i fear this is the issue, when they popped their tap roots, i didnt get them into the soil immediately. they had taproots foe a few days before i put them in the soil. if anyone can help i will be greatful..... btw these are photos, not autos..

    thank you

I could do with a few pictures before I give out any advice my friend, this could be a multitude of things or it could be completely nothing to worry about at all... also what else will help me give the best advice... what growing system are using, what medium are you growing in, what are you feeding, whats your environment, what your light source, how far is the light away from the plants etc etc etc

ive had a germed seed in damp tissue for a week that i forgot about.had a taproot 6" yellow open cotlydons.it still got potted up/greened up and grew ok.
if the taproot was confined during that time could lead to stunting.a 5 week old plant 4" clearly stunted...without pic could be 101 other reasons.
any signs of hairs/pistols to give you a bit of smoke ?
good luck n keep er lit

Yeah i realized that after i posted. Ill get pics up asap. But they are in potting soil. Outside. Environment is rh 60-80% daytime temps in the lower 90snow night time 70s. I realized one critical mistake. I had been taking them out in the a.m. and bringing them back in at night. And my house is typically at 72-74 degrees. So im thinking that might have played a role??? Ive left them outside for 24 hours and they actually seem to have responded. But ill get pics up tonight. They grew a tiny bit with the 24. Overnite stay. So fingers xed. Thank you

Ok. Wow you really think so??? Im of course only going on what i see on yt and my sole plant 20years ago that was a much faster starter. I figured this thing would at least have bigger leaves. And certainly should be taller. But thats just my oppinion. Of course im an inexperienced farmer. So its all a trial basis. My next crop will be in an indoor temt. Also i think im gonna try autos out.thank you for your reply

Outdoor things tend to go slower, given the swings in a normal environment. Probably about time to up-pot though.

For comparison these 2 were started 2 weeks ago yesterday, cooler overnights and hotter days have the outdoor girl much smaller, she'll do fine, just a little behind. Indoor I'm much closer to the correct VPD. 15632884328161101443753085609582.jpg 15632885126317853360051102142484.jpg

Had a very similar problem but I am also a noob. I left my plants in to small of a container for far to long which I honestly had no clue. I wasted about another month and they did get to about a ft tall but maybe only like 4 nodes the one never grew branches and everything was off the main stalk. the other branched out a little bit. these plants were small and plane they started to bud and stopped. After being completely done with them I ripped them out of the ground only to find out my roots never grew because I left them in too small of a pot for to long, they were almost the exact size as when I put them in the ground. In hind sight I wish I would have known before I wasted 2 1/2 months on beating a dead horse. Not saying you should rip them, just have it in mind. From what I see. You had what looks to be a solo cup for 5 weeks from what I have heard once the roots hit bottom they don’t tend to grow down anymore. I hope someone chimes in that had all the know how and reads what I said, as I stated I am a noob and am also learning!

Correct when talking autos, you have about 3 weeks to get in their final pot.
But he has photos, and while it will slow them up a bit, they can recover and get flipped into flower at a later time.
