the only real issue using dress socks and/or nylons and similar the waeves tend to be a little to thick and/or too tightly woven so the life and water dont pass through as well as it needs to. an extraction bag is batter an your'll get years out of a decent one. I have two. and have had them (well one really) for about 4-5 years now and going strong. cheese cloth is the best or burlap even, tied in a criss cross type of bow and dngled into the middle of the heaviest bubbles area. it wont stagnate as much. but it looks like its working fine I suppose but there is room for improvement.how long was that brewing? are there even bubbles? are you doing an oldschool compost soaking and stirring? just wondering. Thanks!

If i may, you might wanna look at the tea Labs 5 gallon brewer kit. or I think they have a 15 gallon as well. and larger too I believe.comes with a 400 micron extraction bag, clasp for hanging the bag, bubble snake, bucket and amendments for several full on teas with a pump too. I have used that tea snake and kit and materials for several years now and ill compare ALL my brewers in the future to this one I like from tea Labs. Bettle juice,Life cube and triple cast are some excellent products as well as their fishballs LOL

youll see a MASSIVE improvement in your tea feeds and quality of the tea overall too. you'll see.a 100 USD WELL spent too,I assure you.give Luke aq ring and tell him Eyes on Fire or Tim sent you .he's a cool guy. Might give you a deal if you buy a kit too. did me. look at their [HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG] Inoculate too. all their products Ive used minus a cpl new new ones but they have all treated me well and fully usable on Autos as well cut 50-50 with their full strength tea. going from an almost unbalanced stir and hope aerated and partly anerobic. so you'll see some really nice improvements in pot and for your root system. instead of hitting it with cooler watrer for the transition root zone to get that O2 blast you can do that with the aeration quick brews. works nicely. take a look at me tea thread in the organics area. good stuff imho. been doing teas for a bit now

so I went ahead and got my stuff ready for a compost tea for my plants

I am trying something new this time pre-activating my worm castings and compost for my plant tea

all I did was take a cup of each worm castings and Malibu compost and put them each in there own zip lock bag with about a tablespoon of insect frass and about a tablespoon of bokashi and mixed a little bit of water and tiny amount of molasses and mixed it together

the idea is to get the worm castings and Malibu compost a jump start on reproducing microbes before I use it in the tea

I will leave the worm castings and Malibu compost mix in the bag for 24 hours and add to my water bucket tomorrow to brew for 24 to 48 hours

just started it so no foam yet

got my worm castings/compost tea going I just mixed it all up

I use the free float method basically I just dump it in there no strainer and after I dump it in there I ever reach in there and break up the big clumps I will let this bubble for 24 hours then water the plants

what I used in this worm castings/compost tea

1x cup of worm castings
1x cup of Malibu compost
2x tablespoon of bokashi
2x tablespoon of insect frass
1x tablespoon of molasses

only real problem with that sort of tea is they steep instead of actually brew. so youll ideally want to stick a spoon or something in there and swirl it about every few hours if you can. but works alright. just dont get as good a brew since some of the stuff will settle around the edges.Hence the spoon lol
