The ten year warranty on Pax3 excludes "Normal performance degradation of batteries" (quote is from the Pax website here https://www.pax.com/pages/warranty ), so don't count on free replacement of a seven year old unit, or for that matter replacement of the battery alone once it winds down over time.

Not saying the Pax 3 isn't nice, it is. Very. But not the only alternative.
Good luck with deciding @dwizzlex. :goodluck::cheers:
You know how to remove a battery and short it out right ?

I simply gave my opinion that of the 12 or so vapes that I have experience with the pax3 is the pick of the crop.
since I'm a medical user and utelise my vape about 3-4 times a day I reckon I have some experience that I could share and perhaps save someone some coin.

perhaps you could leave a review of your favorite vape?

you are right however in that its not the only alternative but its listed as the number 1 or 2 ( by the community) depending on which list you look at when rating portable vapes.
just to clear up a question ... it charges from a cradle that plugs into usb.. you just kinda sit it on the mini cradle thingy.
Ive dropped mine several times and its been kicked across a workshop floor more than a few times when its fallen out of my pocket etc its pretty robust which is why I don't recommend others with glass or ceramic sleeves which are prone to breakage when stoner dropped.

Hey noone, I agree with you that the Pax3 is a fine vape, were I less cheap, and lazy re. cleaning, I might well have bought one. I mentioned the warranty issue only to correct the suggestion that long term failure of the battery was covered, which it is not. Didn’t intend to offend, just to try to ensure that the OP doesn’t make an expensive choice based on incorrect information. I am happy to be corrected, but I doubt that any of the vape brands offer long term warranty of batteries - they are considered consumables unless some sort of catastrophic failure occurs. The big difference between brands is the cost and inconvenience when the batteries wear out, which they all will gradually do. If I have the option, I prefer gear whose batteries I can replace at reasonable cost, preferably without surgery, but different strokes, we all have our preferences and priorities.

Thanks for the advice. Found a store selling off the Solo 2 for about £140.00, so I'm tempted. One think I'm not sure about is batteries. Can they be changed? Are they charged by USB? If the battery goes, is that it, need to buy a new vaporizer?
Yes, I know Solo generation 1 batteries can be changed, but it's a pain. If you have a screwdriver that fits, undo the screws, slide off the cover, and it is a tight fit to remove, reconnect and put back the battery. Solo I used a readily available battery.

Also, the Solo II runs off the power adapter whenever it's plugged in. So unlike many vaporizers, you aren't still running off the battery even when the charging cord is plugged-in. So theoretically, if you use it plugged-in you're essentially not even using the battery.

Vaping raw weed has a kind of..... It smells and tastes like decarbed bud. And that smell/taste is one of very few that make me heave and gag.
I now only decarb concentrates/extracts.
Ima binge smoker, when I smoke I smoke for 6-8 hours.sending a unit back once is a pain in the ass,a second time and I'm done with that Company for life. Everyone deserves a second chance........ But when you can see it coming pah. We don't put up with having to send a tv/pc/dishwasher/oven/watch/phone back for repair, why is it vapes even the expensive units are shit.
Stoners are mugs.
Any bulletproof units around?

I've had the Boundless CFX which for me was like a low grade Mighty that put out clouds with a larger oven and faster heating but it wasn't my favorite. Had a Flowermate, tried a friend's Starry which was alright, and I've had the 510 mods.

I bought a Mighty a little over six months ago for $100 off after stalking vapospy.com for deals and it's been there best for everything. Aftermarket is nice, I bought glass mouthpieces, a stand, a bong adapter with a whip hose, 40pc dosing cap set, and a bunch of other stuff.

It's medical grade materials with dual convection and conduction heating that is easy to clean. Comes with a pick and tamp tool, grinder, charger, dosing capsule, filling tool, extra screens+o rings, and the charger.

I like filler with my weed like sages, chamomile, etc and I get great flavor from 320f and above. Vapor thicknesses and amount tends to depend on the strain at certain temperatures but flavor was what I was after and the Mighty has it.

The thing is great for sharing. I can put it at 380f and run 10 bowls with friends and probably not even hit 50%. The charge time is around two hours but it can be ran like a desktop unit while charging.

I carry mine around in my pockets but usually I have a carry case. It's bigger in the hands than any of the other Vapes but feels ergonomic for me. I don't have anything bad to say about it and the aftermarket is much larger than any of the other Vapes.

My wife says the same thing lol. She won't use the Mighty unless I've added filler herbs to alter the taste.

I notice that it's especially bad when the bud lacks terps where with really strong ones the taste remains longer depending on the heat setting.

I hear nice things about the Firefly 2+ as far as connoisseur level taste but once the bud is spent it all tastes like crap lol.

Salutations,

...why is it vapes even the expensive units are shit.
Because manufacturers address their own mercantile concerns 1st, hence offering solutions poorly adapted to customer objectives. For example Loto Labs started by carving wood decoys, continuously avoiding to resolve the whole IH-driven delivery problem for dry herbs while a change of branding name from Evoke to Lux served zero good purpose except in terms of marketing... Which is possible simply because lots of people seem satisfied to gamble on reputation & popularity when in fact a vast majority of this industry remains stuck into the dark ages of soldering irons. The worse part of it resides in leader products as the venerable and most expensive Volcano which managed to seduce "connoisseurs" with elevated price-tags though it actually works just like a black box model where everything gets evenly mixed (thermalized) inside a Hot Dry Air Ovenizer designed to boost output indiscriminantly, effectively denying convenient molecular-based filtration + packaging provided at an unbeatable cost by dame Nature.

Last but not least, those devices often attempt to gain votes based on monster clouds systematically promoting self-vilification via dosage abuse.

Sortly put the main criteria is about how to get rich fast, with consumer goals made accessorial IMHO. So that's why.

Good day, have fun!! :peace:

So you prefer the totally unnatural, harsh, tainted (terrible to me now) taste of burning cannabis?
the gag reflex is a subconsious reaction to a smell or taste(amongst other things i wont mention).i would love to love to vape raw weed, but a tiny part of my brain that i have no control over, wont let me like vaping weed.
i was seriously put off edibles for the same reason.the way i got round that was to decarb extracts/concentrates only.
i am hoping to find a vape that can handle extracts/concentrates,to let me vape without going through the involentary movements of puking, without actualy puking.
yep i guess vapes are shit because the buyer would rather have colour changing flashing lights,a buzz of a vibrate, bluetooth, and super cool packaging......than have the designers/manufactors of a vape focus on performance.
its all our fault :coffee2:

Hi again,

Any bulletproof units around?
Well i solved my own issues with portable dry herb vaporization quite some long time ago. There was a time when even an HerbalAire turned into a super Solo still caused me all sorts of serious allergy-like symptoms, feeling miserable enough to consider absolute abstainance again - which ain't the case anymore.

...to decarb extracts/concentrates only.
Although i promote "The Shortest Path of Lesser Transformation" this doesn't sound out of reach to me as i used to collect/reclaim wax in the early days of my customized VG experiments, many years ago. I understand your concern over light & sound shows, tactile/haptic user interfaces and bluetooth session logging in a sexy layout but i wouldn't trash it all just because designers can get away with cheat tricks and return with more.

...its all our fault...
Actually i've done everything in my power inviting cannabis consumers to exercise more criticism.

Good day, have fun!! :peace:
