Happy New Year AFN

Happy New Year AFN

Happy New Year AFN!

The staff at AFN wanted to give a warm thank you to all of you that made 2016 such a success for the Autoflower Network!

It was quite the year and definitely showed us the potential of the site when we get the community and the staff working together!

In a quick review of the year, we completed our 1st full year of CannaZone Live Product Testing in October 2016! We’ve had a ton of fun getting to test all of the equipment donated from over 17 vendors and we hope it’s been informative and educational! We’re working on new ideas to improve the testing and feedback and will push to make it even better going forward!

Our Auto Warriors group did an amazing job bringing representatives on the site from many grow related companies for live Q&A sessions which would last for hours at a time and we did our very first two live audio interviews with Black Dog LED and Platinum LED!

You can check out all the interviews we had through the year here!

Check out the two live audio interviews via streaming playback if you haven’t yet!

We had our first ever Festivus holiday event that is still ongoing into the new year with raised donation values well over $10,000.00 in donated equipment for giveaway! We have some very generous vendors on the site and it’s such a good feeling to be able to give away gear and seeds to everyone that we can with the fun contests! I hope you all are enjoying it and it’s given us quite a bit to work with on how to improve it even more for next year!

2017 is going to be an even bigger and better year for the site and community and we’d like to share some of the highlights we’re working on with you!

Autoflower Education

There will be a major emphasis on the education, tutorials, and grow help for autoflowers and general cannabis growing.

We are launching our “Art of the Auto” section which is structured and modeled akin to a grow book. It will consist of static pages that will not allow replies, but rather we will create sub-forums underneath for each topic discussion. The information most accepted by staff and community will be written into the static pages, hopefully eliminating a lot of the troubles of finding specific information on a growing aspect (no more searching dozens of pages of off-topic comment) and encourage more topic specific discussion!

Here is an example of the layout (work in progress, Outdoor setup not finished yet:)

We’re going to make the “how to” of indoor and outdoor growing autoflowers to be more accessible and easier for both the novice grower and experts alike!

AFN CannaZone Live Talk Radio

AFN now has its own live internet broadcast radio channel! We are planning some dedicated programming for 2017 and the radio is where we conduct our live audio interviews with our vendors!

You can check it out here! http://mixlr.com/autoflower-network/

If you create an account on Mixlr (takes barely a minute to do,) you can get e-mail updates to a valid address whenever we go live at any time as well as any upcoming events that we schedule! A registered account also opens up the live chat in the radio page which has proven great during the live interviews for members asking company representatives questions on the radio!

AFN Marketplace

We are launching an AFN Marketplace in 2017 that will sell merchandise, swag, and AFN produced goods!

AFN is also pleased to announce Efficient Grow Lights.com (www.efficientgrowlights.com), showcasing a product called the AutoCOB, built and backed by an AFN forum community member who has done tremendous amounts of work helping with our LED forums and DIY LED’s!

You can read more about it on the Efficient Grow Lights site or see it live in action and ask your questions in our live product testing forum on AFN! If you’re curious about the light or want to help support AFN through its member contributions, check it out!

Improved Site Navigation

We’re working on tutorials to help members navigate the site better and to hopefully answer some common questions we see pop up frequently on how to get around the site, posting pictures, using the photo gallery, writing reviews, and where things are generally located.

We recently started a forum consolidation project where we eliminated many redundant forums and categorized/alphabetized other ones. The project is still on-going and eventually these forums will be assimilated into the new “Art of the Auto” section as discussion forums. Absolutely no information/threads will be deleted or made inaccessible, just moved to a more appropriate section!

These are many of the forums that will be moved under the “Art of the Auto:”

Live Interviews

Our Auto Warriors, AFN’s premier interviewing group, already have a massive list of new vendors and known vendors alike that we’re planning on bringing on for more live audio interviews and forum Q&A’s!

Showcase Review Templates

If you’re not familiar with Showcase, it’s a review system where we (on the admin side) can create custom templates for product reviews, which means you click on the product you want to review and just fill in the blanks for questions already listed. That means less confusion on what to write, less chance of missing critical information, and the best part is that we can modify them at any time, so if someone has a great suggestion for something to have on the reviews, we can incorporate them in!

The reviews can be categorized and sorted and can even be listed by vendor, meaning LESS searching for what you’re after!

We created a committee in 2016 to start working on the Showcase Review Templates and will be an active and ongoing project for 2017 to add even more categories and companies to make a robust review system!

Check it out here! https://www.autoflower.net/forums/showcase/

WordPress Articles

I’m sure many of you have seen that we’ve incorporated WordPress into our old forum splash page instead of the old “click here to enter” page.

We have several very talented people writing articles for us and hope to bring more informational and reading pieces to the site in 2017! You can find a calendar of events of all upcoming events on AFN, including interviews with vendors! There is also a player for our live radio channel if you are looking for an easy way to listen to broadcasts when they happen!

Photo Period Section

Due to popular demand and new Live Product Testing with photo strains, we are bringing the photo period section back to AFN! Look for it soon!

R&D Testing

AFN is on the verge of starting to do Research and Development (R&D) testing for select vendors on the site. We’re very excited to be given the opportunity to try out new equipment and product before it’s even released and are looking forward to entering the next chapter in our Live Product Testing!

Social Media

AFN is on both Twitter and Instagram! If you’re a fan of either or just curious what they are about, check us out! You can see a gallery of some of the finest plants and buds on AFN on our Instagram and more pics are added daily!

2017 is going to be a fantastic year for AFN and we’re happy to see old faces come back to the community and new ones popping in to form new bonds and friendships! This truly is a community driven site and without the members we wouldn’t have a site or the support to be able to do these things.

We’d like to give a huge shout out to all AFN staff, who are 100% non-paid volunteers. This has been a volunteer ran site since it came into being and words can never describe the gratitude we have for all the men and women that help put in long, not-always-thanked-for hours into making sure things get done and information is correct. From the High Team to the Auto Warriors to our CannaZone Test Group all the way up to Moderators, Global Moderators, and Admin staff. You are all amazing individuals and your personalities (however like-minded or clashing they might be) are what makes this innovation happen, so just wanted to say thank you for sticking with us over the years even when things look hairy and the situation gets sticky.

Happy New Year AFN, let’s say goodbye to the gains and losses of 2016 and push forward, onward and upward!
